You have reached and INTERSECTION!!!!!

How well can you work with your partner through cyber-space to create ONE layout? That is the real challenge of an intersection. While some teams are in close enough to get together to work out the layout most have to communicate through email, IM's, or forums to work out what they are going to do for this type of challenge. Stop number 10 was a fun intersection hosted by Inspiration Lane. We are all about inspiration around here - we strive to inspire you to create the best pages you can with forum challenges, blog challenges, freebies, wishes, ... so we want to know....

what inspires your inner artist?
it can be anything from kids to hubbys to other people in your lives to places you've been/live/work... you get the idea
we want to see what inspires you in your life! (it does not have to be scrap-related!)
*your layout must include 2 photos - 1 photo from each racer - that show what inspires each of you in your lives
that's it! no other requirements, just let the inspiration flow

Here is what Angi and I came up with after one day of finger flying conversation through email.

Quote: See, I have chosen..... and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, Exodus 31:2-4 (New International Version)

Angi and I are both insprired by our families and the world around us, and we discovered that we both felt that our ability to express that inspiration came from God. We wanted to creat a layout that incorperated both the inspiration and the giver of the talent.

Finding our Color Oppisit at OScraps

Our 9th stop was at OScraps were we got have fun playing with paint and finding our color oppisits. The first step of the challenge is to look at the color wheel. You and your partner must choose opposing colors on the wheel, so for example, if you pick blue, your partner must use orange. It should be the predominant color in the layout but it does not have to be the only color used. Please use THIS color wheel to make your selections. As long as you are using opposing colors, they do not have to be in the same band.

The second step is incorporate this quote in some way.

“Creativity is inventing, experimenting, growing, taking risks, breaking rules, making mistakes, and having fun.” - Mary Lou Cook
You can use any part of this quote as your inspiration. For example, you could make a layout about growing. You could make a layout about breaking the rules, etc. You can use any part of the quotes or words from the quote. The quote itself does NOT have to appear on your page.
The third step is to include the following:
You MUST include paint. This item is mandatory.
Then, pick 7 more from this list:
swirls
glitter
black and white photo
2 alphas
something metal
stitching
patterned paper
funky font
journaling

Journaling: The Art Studio hosted a Monstart Party on February 6, 2010. This fun afternoon brought together parents and children, artists and the community together to create an exhibition of Monster Art. Victor, George and I went and had a wonderful time creating art as a family.

Everyone has a "Someday" What is ours?

Elemental Scraps had a fun challenge them for this year which was to scrap our Someday. That something we alwayse keep sying we are going to do. This is their discription of the challenge:
We've all said "someday...". Whether it's "someday, I'm going to get this filing cabinet cleared" or "someday, I'm going to find happiness" or anything in between. So, we want to see your "someday".

In order to allow as much creative license as possible, we have very few stipulations about what you need to use on your layout, but of course there are a few.

- Your layout must contain journaling. Whether you choose for it to be 1 line of journaling, or an entire page of journaling, is up to you.
- Somewhere in your journaling or title it must say "someday". If you want to make the title 'Someday', that's fine. If you would rather make your title something else completely and just mention 'someday' in the journaling, that works too. Even if you happen to have a 'someday' word art you want to use, that's fine as well! As long as we can see 'someday' on your page somewhere, it counts!
- We love elements here at Elemental Scraps, so of course we would love to see some on your page. At least 10 of them! But, use your creativity! If you want to use 10 pieces of ribbon and no other elements, that's fine! If you pick one button, 3 staples, 2 flowers, 3 ribbons and a frame, that works too. If in doubt, feel free to add more.
- I am currently obsessed with tone on tone papers. So, I'd like the background of your page to be a tone on tone patterned paper. If you don't have any tone on tone papers in your stash, you can use the one below. Otherwise, tone on tone paper you already have will work.

Journaling: Going through the horrible of years of miscarriages and infertility, my life seemed so dark. like I was living in a constant nightmare.
When I was really down, only a few songs helped me feel better or that my world would not always be in darkness. “Oooh Child” by the Five Stairsteps was one of them, especially the lyrics in the title. It was a lifeline to me.

Journaling: I have several albums of photos from the days before I got my first digital camera in 1999. My mom has boxes upon boxes of old family photos some dating back to before my Grandmother was born. We both know that to preserve these documents of history that they need to be scanned; and in many, cases restored. Our common mantra is that SOMEDAY we will sit down and work on scanning them. We have done this once and have we still say that SOMEDAY we will do it again.

The Bucket List

We visited Scrap Orchard for stop number 7 and they gave us a humdinger of a challenge that had me thinking for days. We had to scrap our bucket list, ya know the top 100 or in this case 50 things you want to do before you die. I had never even given this any thought let alone made a list. The only rules for this challenge was that all 50 things on your list had to be represented in your layout. Here is what Angi and I came up.

Journaling: I had never given much thought to a Bucket List. Working to come up with 50 things that I want to do or accomplish before I die was not an easy task. Looking over the things on my list really says a lot about where I am at in my life and where I want to be. A lot of the items are not things that I do once and then cross off but are more about changes in life styles, to be a better person. I hope that I can keep my Bucket List in mind as I go through every day of the rest of my life.

This One is for ME?

Challenge 6 took us to Scrapity Doo Dah for a ROADBLOCK. One and only one partner could complete this challenge. Angi and I had a hard time deciding who would get to do this one. Our solution was to see who got theirs posted first. The other partner would then get to do the next roadblock. The challenge required that we follow this recepe:

Papers - 2 1. Select 2 papers, solid/solid, solid/pattern, pattern/pattern.
2. Lay your first paper so that if covers the entire workspace.

3. Take the second paper insert it into your LO and decrease the size so that the paper is slightly smaller than the bottom layer.
4. Shadow the top layer.
5. Select a photo of you when you were younger and another one of you taken within the past year.
6. Photos should be 4 x 6. They can be vertical or horizontal. They can be color, sepia, or black/white.
7. Place the younger version of you in the top right quadrant of your layout.
8. Frame it.
9. Place the most recent photo of you in the lower right hand quadrant of your layout.
10. Frame it. Done Girlboheme
11. Select the following number of elements and cluster the areas around these photos.
Buttons - 4
Flowers - 4
Leaf//Leaves - 2
Heart shapes - 2 (yellow paper hearts 1 under dragonfly and 1 under upper edge of top photo)
String / Twine - 2 (purple string stapled to dragonfly charm, green peeking out from behind upper photo)
Glitter/Bling - 2 (butterfly gems)
Metals - 4 (3 staples, 1 dragonfly charm)
